Leticia M. Delgado (she/ella) is a costume designer, cutter-draper and educator. Leticia received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the School of Theatre at Illinois State University. Currently, Leticia is Head of Costume Design at The University of Texas at El Paso and the Resident Costume Designer for Ballet Lubbock. Mrs. Delgado has taught at Lubbock Christian University, Miami University, the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Ball State University.
A few of Mrs. Delgado’s design credits include Los Empeños de Una Casa(UTEP), Moonlight (Ballet Lubbock), The Four Seasons (Ballet Lubbock), Cinderella (Ballet Lubbock), Snow White (Ballet Lubbock), Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The Exception, Oliver!, Into the Woods, Our Town, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), As You Like It, The Glass Menagerie, Art, The Wiz, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, A Streetcar Named Desire, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Flea in Her Ear, and The Laramie Project. Leticia has also designed costumes for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Santa Barbara Dance Theatre’s international tours of China and Ireland (Artistic Director Jerry Pearson) and worked with the Santa Barbara Theatre Group. A few of Leticia’s specialties include costumes for dance and period dress. Her pattern drafting and draping skills have allowed her to amass numerous Master Draper credits. Some of Mrs. Delgado’s costume design work is also included in The Director's Vision: Play Direction from Analysis to Production (Waveland Press, 2015). Leticia contributed a chapter on the elements and principles of design to The Art and Practice of Costume Design, a Routledge/Focal Press publication (2016).
Leticia is passionate about art education and social justice, participating in The Annual Statewide Summit on Mexican American Studies in Texas Schools and the Southeastern Theatre Conference’s Forum on Race and Representation in Theatre Design & Technology. Ms. Delgado is the current secretary of the Latinx, Indigenous and the Americas Focus Group of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) and a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT). Leticia was a member of the inaugural artEquity BIPOC Leadership Circle cohort in 2020.
